Welcome to Finland – the country of calm and contrasts

Speaking of Finland makes us think of loads of snow, of elk in unspoilt nature, and silence. Nonetheless, Finns like their outdoor events. Have you ever heard of the wife-carrying championship, for example? They also like to partake in mosquito hunting competitions. They drink more milk and coffee than any other nation. And there are more Heavy Metal bands per capita in Finland than anywhere else in the world. The Finnish language is more related to Hungarian than to other Nordic languages. All in all, the Finnish seem to be a nation of contradictions in a country of contrasts. Is this perhaps the key to their happiness? Our article will not be able to shed light on the matter. Still, it sketches a portrait of a very likeable and beautiful country that has a lot to offer to its visitors. ((Link))
